San Francisco based mobile gaming giant,Scopely has announced the acquisition of GSN Games from Sony Pictures Entertainment for approximately $1 billion. Scopely's acquisition of GSN - the publisher behind hit tiltles including Solitaire TriPeaks and Bingo Bash - will see half of the of the transaction paid in cash with the remainder in preferred equity which will see Sony Pictures Entertainment become a minority shareholder in Scopely. The deal is subject to the normal closing conditions.

Announcing the deal, Scopely CRO, TIm O'Brien said, "We have some exciting news to share: Scopely has agreed to acquire GSN Games from Sony Pictures Entertainment. We continue to explore transformative acquisition opportunities to bring strategic assets and world-class teams into our operating system and further expand our business. The GSN Games organization is an exceptional game-making team behind many top mobile and online games including ‘Solitaire TriPeaks’ and ‘Bingo Bash. The business is incredibly durable with an extremely loyal player base due to the incredible experiences the team continues to build. Upon close of the deal, we will welcome approximately 400 new employees to Scopely around the world.”
